The shot put men at the 1999 World Championships in Athletics was on 21 August 1999 at the Olympic Stadium of the Spanish city of Seville discharged.

World champion was the US American World Cup third from 1997 Cottrell J. Hunter . Like two years before, the German Oliver-Sven Buder came second. He was Vice European Champion in 1990 - at that time still starting for the GDR . The Olympic third in 1996 , third in the World Cup in 1993 , European champion from 1998 and vice European champion from 1994 Oleksandr Bahatsch from Ukraine won the bronze medal. He was first honored as the winner of the shot put in 1997, but was then convicted of doping abuse with ephedrine and had to surrender his gold medal again. There was no suspension, so the following year he was able to start again at the European Championships and won.
