Old spinning mill Schlettau
Old spinning mill Schlettau Schlettau (to the right of Zschopau, Talstrasse No. 4)
(map)
Built between 1833 and 1836 The spinning mill in Schlettau was built between 1833 and 1836 on the Zschopau by the meritorious master builder Johann Traugott Lohse. It showed the “palace-typical” elements of its architecture in a particularly mature manner: Risalits on the north and south facades, so that a cross-shaped floor plan was created, with decorative triangular gables, three-quarter colossal columns with base and capital and keel-arched roof. It served the production of cotton yarn until the 1860s. This spinning mill is important in terms of building history, local history and industrial history. Today the building is in great need of renovation. With Schlettau Castle, which dates back to the Middle Ages and is on the other side of the Zschopau, it can form a culturally and touristically valuable ensemble. The Schlettau history circle strives for its renovation and subsequent use. 08990938
