Macdonald
Macdonald or MacDonald originated English family name , derived from the Scottish-Gaelic patronym MacDhòmhnaill meaning "son of Dòmhnall". It is particularly widespread in Scotland and Ireland, and through emigration to Canada and the United States .
MacDonald is the name of a Scottish clan, see Clan MacDonald .
