The Mazda Romper ( Japanese マツダ·ロンパー ) was a small truck in forward control drive with a payload of up to one ton and the first four-wheeled vehicle Tōyō Kōgyō today Mazda .

Sales started in 1958. He received the air-cooled two-cylinder engine with 1105 cm³ and an output of 32.5 hp from the three-wheeled pickup / panel van of the Mazda T series . It had space for three people in the front and had four-wheel drive .

In 1959 the engine was converted to water cooling and at the same time the name was changed to D 1100 and D 1500 in accordance with the increased payload.

In 1962 the frame was expanded and a new petrol engine with 1985 cc, 2.0 liter displacement and 81 hp (60 kW) was added. This increased the payload and accordingly there were the D 1500 and D 2000 models.

The D1500 standard type was priced at 505,000 yen when it was introduced .

In 1964 the D-series was replaced by the Mazda E 2000 .
