The Mazda MX-30 is an SUV produced by the Japanese car manufacturer Mazda . The first variant of the vehicle has a battery-electric drive . Other variants have an internal combustion engine as a range extender or as the main drive ( mild hybrid ).
history
The sport utility vehicle was presented on October 23, 2019 at the Tokyo Motor Show . Since then, the model can be reserved as a so-called “First Edition” against a deposit of 1000 euros. This will then be credited back to the purchase price of 33,990 euros at the start of advance sales in March 2020. Deliveries of the MX-30 are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2020.
Market positioning
Technically, the Mazda MX-30 is a completely new development. The external dimensions are almost identical to the Mazda CX-30 presented in March 2019 . Nevertheless, the MX-30 is designed independently, which is made clear, among other things, by the portal doors in the style of the RX-8 built between 2003 and 2012 and the flatter roof.
Until now, the MX nomenclature was reserved for Mazda sports cars in the model range . However, the manufacturer stated that in the brand's own history, those vehicles received this designation that should be highlighted as particularly innovative. In the interior, Mazda emphasizes that sustainable materials such as textile covers made from recycled plastic bottles and cork are used. The latter also spans the past of the manufacturer, who refined cork at the beginning. Due to the comparatively short electric range of around 200 km, the MX-30 will mainly be sold as a second car.
