The Mazda CX-3 is a compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) from the Japanese car manufacturer Mazda . It was first unveiled to the public in November 2014 at the Los Angeles Auto Show . The premiere in Europe took place at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015, and advance sales in Germany started at the same time. The market launch followed in June 2015.

The CX-3 is based on the same platform as the Mazda2 and is only available in one body variant, with four doors and five seats.

A 1.5-l diesel engine with 77 kW (105 PS) and a 2.0-l petrol engine with direct petrol injection are used as drive , which is available in two output levels - with 88 kW (120 PS) and 110 kW (150 PS) - is available. All engine variants offer Mazda's SkyActiv technology and a start-stop system . SkyActiv -Technik means u. a. 14: 1 compression, aluminum alloy engine block , multi-hole injectors and less friction. By February 2011, Mazda said it had applied for more than 130 patents. The model is optionally available with a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic. You can also choose between standard front-wheel drive and electronically controlled all-wheel drive, which is available for an extra charge.

The highest level of equipment ( sports line ) also includes a head-up display . This can be equipped with matrix LED headlights on request . As in the Exclusive Line, full LED headlights are standard equipment .

Registration numbers

Since the market launch up to and including December 2019, a total of 72,934 Mazda CX-3s have been newly registered in the Federal Republic of Germany. 2019 was the most successful sales year with 19,050 units. Since 2016, the CX-3 has been the second best-selling Mazda vehicle in Germany after the CX-5 .
