The Mazda3 MPS was first presented at the AMI in April 2006. It is powered by the 2.3-liter turbo engine with gasoline direct injection familiar from the Mazda6 MPS , which develops an output of 191 kW (260 hp) at 5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 380 Nm at 3000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a manual 6-speed gearbox and a limited- slip differential . A charge and boost pressure control that is dependent on gear selection and steering angle improves traction. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h, from 0 to 100 km / h it takes 6.1 s. This makes the Mazda3 MPS one of the most powerful production vehicles with front-wheel drive. Further equipment features are 18-inch alloy wheels in a 10-spoke design, red decorative stitching in the interior and aluminum pedals, as well as an electronic safety system consisting of an electronic stability program (DSC), which includes traction control (TCS) and a brake assistant (EBA) .
