Miloš Jojić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Милош Јојић ; born March 19, 1992 in Stara Pazova ) is a Serbian football player .

Career

In the club

youth

Miloš Jojić began playing football at an early age with Jedinstvo Stara Pazova , a club from the city of Stara Pazova . After moving to Belgrade , he continued his career in the youth department of Partizan Belgrade , where he played from the age of ten. In the Partizan's youth academy, he then trained on the training ground in Zemun with other youth players from the club under professional guidance.

Teleoptik Zemun

After Jojić had played for almost all youth teams at Partizan, he played for the farm team Teleoptik Zemun for two years . Finally, on January 24, 2012, he signed a four-year professional contract with the capital club. Until the end of the 2011/12 season he played on loan with Teleoptik in the 2nd Serbian league . There Jojić scored 14 goals in 60 league games.

Partizan Belgrade

For Partizan he made his debut on September 15, 2012 on the 5th match day of the 2012/13 season at the age of 20 in the Serbian SuperLiga in the home game against Hajduk Kula , when he came on in the 38th minute for team captain Saša Ilić . Just a few minutes later, he scored 3-0 in a 5-2 win. On the following day he was in the starting lineup in a 5-0 home win against Sloboda Užice . Jojić made his debut in the Serbian Cup on October 31, 2012 in the round of 16 against Borac Čačak , when he was on the starting line-up and played through. With his team he retired with a 1: 2 defeat.

On May 28, 2013 he scored the winning goal on matchday 28 with a direct free kick to make it 1-0 in the 90th minute in the 144th Eternal Derby against Red Star ; since then he has been a fan favorite. Partizan was just ahead of the city rivals on the first place in the table, so with the goal two game days before the end he decided the Serbian championship at the last minute and finally won his first championship.

In the 2013/14 season , Jojić developed into a leading player. In the first half of the season he also managed his first double in a 2-0 home win against Spartak Subotica . Despite his young age, he was one of the team's top performers. The offensive player was the only Partizan professional to play all of the league games in the first half of the season and was also the Belgrade's statistically best player with six goals and seven assists. In December 2013 he was finally chosen as the "first half of the season" in Serbia's top division.

Several European clubs have now shown interest in signing Jojić, including Bayer 04 Leverkusen , Borussia Dortmund and SSC Napoli , and other clubs such as Juventus Turin and AC Milan as well as clubs from England are said to have been interested in him.

Borussia Dortmund

On January 31, 2014, after the Dortmund offensive player Jakub Błaszczykowski sustained a serious injury and was therefore out for a long time , Jojić moved to the Bundesliga for BVB at the age of 21 . He signed a contract until June 30, 2018. According to media reports, the transfer fee was between two and three million euros. Jojić got the shirt with the shirt number 14 at Borussia and met his national team colleague Neven Subotić , compatriot Zlatan Alomerović and the native Bosnian Serb and assistant coach of the professional squad , Željko Buvač .

On February 4, 2014 he made his debut for Borussia against the second division Fortuna Düsseldorf in a closed test match on the training ground in Dortmund's Brackel district . Jojić made his Bundesliga debut under Jürgen Klopp on February 15, 2014 (21st matchday) in the game against Eintracht Frankfurt . When the score was 3-0, he was substituted on for Henrich Mchitarjan and scored with his first ball contact, 17.84 seconds after his substitution, in the 68th minute to 4-0. It was the fastest goal by a debutant and the third fastest joker goal in the history of the Bundesliga. He scored a goal in his first game as a substitute for both Partizan and Serbia's national team. Jojić scored his second goal for BVB against Borussia Mönchengladbach in his third game on March 16, the 25th matchday, after he was substituted on for Sebastian Kehl and scored about 15 minutes later to make it 1: 2. He was used in ten games in the second half of the season and scored four goals.

Jojić made his Champions League debut for Dortmund on April 8, 2014 in the starting line-up in a 2-0 quarter-final second leg win against Real Madrid during the 2013/14 season . At the same time, it was his first game in the premier class, because previously he had only been used at Partizan in qualifying for Europe's top football class.

1. FC Cologne

On July 5, 2015, Jojić moved to 1. FC Köln and signed a contract until June 30, 2019. Jojić was number 8 in Cologne.

Istanbul Başakşehir FK

On July 10, 2018, Jojić moved to the Turkish first division club Istanbul Başakşehir . In the 2018/19 season, however, he only made eight appearances for Başakşehir in the Süper Lig . In the 2019/20 season he no longer played a role.

Wolfsberger AC

It was then awarded to the Austrian Bundesliga club Wolfsberger AC in January 2020 . By the end of the loan, he made 14 appearances for the Carinthians in the Bundesliga .

National team

Jojić was regularly used in Serbia's national youth teams from 2011. At the U-19 European Football Championship in Romania , he scored the first goal in the opening game in a 2-0 win against Turkey. Finally, he made it to the semi-finals with Serbia, in which the team failed to the Czech Republic.

He has been playing for the U-21 national team since 2012, and has so far completed 15 international matches and scored three times. On October 11, 2013, he finally made his debut in Serbia 's national team under Siniša Mihajlović in the international test match and farewell match of Dejan Stanković in Novi Sad against Japan . In the Karađorđe stadium , he immediately scored his first international goal when he scored the second goal in the 2-0 win in the 90th minute.

Style of play

Jojić usually takes on the role of the attacking midfielder . He can be used behind the strikers as well as on the wings, mainly on the left side, as well as a hanging tip or in the ten position, and is therefore considered a versatile offensive all-rounder. Jojić prefers to see himself as the link between defensive and offensive.

Overall, he is considered to be flexible, technically adept, robust, with a good overview and pull to the goal. It is characterized by a high level of ball and pass security. Borussia Dortmund's sports director Michael Zorc described Jojić as a versatile player with great development potential.

Nickname

In Serbia, Jojić is also known by his nickname Zeko or Zeka (" bunny "). He had received this in his childhood from a former neighbor from Stara Pazova because of his large incisors and the gap between them at the time; at the same time it is an allusion to its agility.

personality

In Serbia he is considered to be a modest character with a controlled temperament who detests excessive extroversion . He is also known as a bookworm . For example, during an interview with the Serbian sports newspaper Sportski žurnal , Jojić said : “I try to read whenever I have time. I would rather read a book than watch a movie ”. He regularly publishes snapshots of book covers as reading recommendations via Instagram .
