coat of arms
Blazon : "Divided by gold and red in a wavy cut, inside a pair of lying sheep shears in mixed colors above, four ears of corn growing out of the base of the shield below."
The wave division represents the location of the municipality on the Ems. The sheep shears are taken from the coat of arms of the knight family von Langen , who lived here in the Middle Ages and wielded angled red sheep shears in the golden shield. The four ears of corn symbolize the four districts: Oberlangen, Sand, Wilholte and Oberlangen-Moor / Siedlung. In addition, they refer to the predominant agriculture in the community. The colors red and gold are the coat of arms colors of the Lords of Langen and at the same time those of the Niederstift Münster, to whose territory Oberlangen belonged from 1252 to 1803.
The coat of arms was created by the heraldist Dr. Ulf-Dietrich Korn from Münster designed.
