Neubörger is a municipality in the integrated municipality of Dörpen in the northern part of the Emsland district in Lower Saxony .

geography

Geographical location

Neubörger is located in the Emsland on the north-western edge of the Geesthügel des Hümmling between the cities of Papenburg in the north and Meppen in the south and between the municipalities of Dörpen in the west and Surwold in the east. The north loop of the Transrapid test facility in Emsland is located immediately to the west of the core town .

Neighboring communities

Neighboring municipalities in the northeast are the municipality of Surwold in the combined municipality of Nordhümmling , in the southeast the municipality of Börger in the combined municipality of Sögel , in the south the municipality of Wippingen and in the west the municipality of Dörpen.

history

Neubörger was founded in 1788 by Franz Friedrich von Fürstenberg as a bog colony and after the Second World War it received another significant boost from people displaced from the eastern German regions and funding measures from the Emsland Plan .

Until December 31, 2004, Neubörger belonged to the administrative district Weser-Ems , which was dissolved as a result of an administrative reform at the end of this date.
