Neulehe is a municipality in the Emsland district in Lower Saxony . It belongs to the integrated municipality of Dörpen , which has its administrative seat in the municipality of Dörpen .

Geographical location

The municipality of Neulehe is located in the northern part of the district between Leer and Meppen on the coastal canal .

Neighboring communities

Neighboring communities are in the north the city of Papenburg , in the east the community Surwold in the integrated community Nordhümmling , in the south the community Dörpen and in the west the community Lehe .

history

Neulehe was founded in 1788 by the Prince-Bishop of Münster, Maximilian Franz of Austria, as a moor colony northeast of Dörpen. It was named after the nearest existing village Lehe .

Settlement A was founded in 1936/37 as part of the development of the right-hand Emsian moors with 11 settlement sites. This actually belonged to the community of Surwold . Neulehe was united in 1939 with the settlement A under the new name Eggershausen . After the Second World War , the renaming was reversed.

Until the municipality reform in Lower Saxony, which came into force on January 1, 1973, new marriage was a member municipality of the joint municipality of Aschendorf / Ems . Since the community reform it has been a member community of the integrated community Dörpen.

The state road 62 from Aschendorf / Ems to Börger runs right through the community. The federal road 401 runs in the south along the municipal boundary parallel to the coastal canal . The motorway junction of the federal motorway 31 in Dörpen , about 15 kilometers to the west, can be reached via this federal road .
