Djibouti participated in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . It was the eighth total participation in the Summer Olympics. The Comité National Olympique et Sportif Djiboutien nominated seven athletes in three sports.

The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the athlete Abdi Waiss Mouhyadin . At the closing ceremony , the athlete Mohamed Ismail Ibrahim led the delegation.
