fauna and Flora
plants
Pha Taem has mainly dry Dipterocarpus forests with tree species such as Shorea obtusa from the genus Shorea and the wing fruit family . Evergreen plants settle near the water. There are also two pine forests here.
Animal kingdom
Species such as the deer taxa , Malay glider ( Cynocephalus variegatus ), Fleckenmusang and Serau make up the fauna of the national park.
Attractions
The most important sights of Pha Taem are the approximately 300 rock carvings stretching over 180 meters , the age of which is estimated to be 3000 to 4000 years. This makes them the largest collection of rock carvings in the world. Utensils for fishing, people and animals (elephants, fish, dogs) are shown. Not far away are the cliffs of Pha Chek and Pha Moei , which also have rock carvings.
Other attractions are
- Pha Chanadai - a rock with an evergreen pine forest and a beautiful view over the Mekong to Laos
- Phu Krabo - a cliff with bizarrely shaped rock formations
- Soi Sawan - waterfall formed by two streams
- Phu Long or "Sargberg" - coffin-like niches in the rock were used for burial
