Cyclist of the Year (Netherlands)

The Dutch Cyclist of the Year is an annual award given by Club 48 since 1955 .

The Club 48 is an association for the Dutch former cyclists and other important personalities from the field of cycling. It is named after the year in which the Dutch cyclist Gerrit Schulte became world champion in the single pursuit in Amsterdam .

The awards are given in four different categories. The Keetie van Oosten-Hage Trofee for women is named after the six-time world champion Keetie van Oosten-Hage , and the one for men after the world track champion Gerrit Schulte. The prize for the youngsters was originally called Toboga Bokaal , but was named after him after the death of road world champion Gerrie Knetemann in 2004. Since 2008, the Peter Post Carrièreprijs has been awarded for life's work or special achievements, named after Peter Post , cyclist and sports director, who died in 2011 .

After the award for men had been given since 1955, an award for women followed in 1976, which has since been named after Keetie von Oosten-Hage, who was honored for the first three years. A young driver has been honored every year since 1961. In 2015, after more than 60 years, Elis Ligtlee was the first woman to receive this award.
