The district is located in the northern part of the country.

population

In 2009, 4008 inhabitants were registered. The municipality was supposed to come to the Priekuļi district as part of an administrative reform in 2009 , but instead formed an administrative community with Drusti , although the two municipalities are not directly adjacent.
