The SuperLiga 2009/10 (officially: Jelen SuperLiga ) was the fourth season of the highest Serbian football league. Partizan Belgrade was defending champion of the SuperLiga 2009/10 by winning the championship and cup double in the previous season. The season started on August 15, 2009 and ended on May 16, 2010.
Innovations
In 2009/10, 16 instead of 12 teams played in the league for the first time. Therefore, the playing time for each team consisted of 30 instead of 33 games, because now the league was only played with a round trip instead of the previous 3 rounds. Because of the league expansion, there were four newcomers from the second division with BSK Borča , who moved up for the only relegated from the previous season, Banat Zrenjanin , FK Smederevo , Mladi Radnik Požarevac , Spartak Subotica and Metalac .
Season course
Partizan Belgrade defended the title and became soccer champion for the 22nd time. The club remained record champions with three titles in four years of the league's existence. Partizan Belgrade also remained undefeated in all 30 games. Already after the penultimate match day, the club could no longer take the title with a 3-0 win at OFK Belgrade and a surprising 1-3 defeat by pursuers Red Star Belgrade against BSK Borča. The first relegation was newcomer Mladi Radnik, the club was five points short of the saving 14th place, which Hajduk Kula took. In the second division followed Mladi Radnik Napredak Kruševac , who were only one point behind Hajduk. While Partizan qualified for the UEFA Champions League , cup winners and runners-up Red Star, OFK and Spartak Subotica made it to the UEFA Europa League .
