Our songs is a song by the German pop singer Adel Tawil . The piece is a continuation of the title Lieder , published two years earlier . The music was written by Tobias Kuhn and Tawil, the German text by Sebastian Wehlings and Tawil.
History of origin
The piece Our songs was created in collaboration between Adel Tawil and Deutsche Telekom . As part of the campaign "Our songs are one" called Tawil and Telekom people in Germany in the spring via social media and TV on, they playlists to send (Playlists) with their favorite songs, and so part of a series of songs to be. According to Südwestrundfunk , around 30,000 entries were received. While the original was a collection of quotations , in which every line of text has a direct reference to songs that are important to Tawil, people from all over Germany were allowed to decide which works should be included in “their song” in our songs .
The song contains allusions to songs from the past 50 years, with the oldest piece Tawil refers to being Dancing in the Street by Martha & the Vandellas from 1964. The latest song is Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran from 2014. As in the previous song , Tawil again refers to his past and alludes to Ich + Ich with the line So should it be .
Publication and promotion
The single was released on August 14, 2015 under the music label Vertigo Berlin as a single download and distributed by Universal Music Publishing . At the same time as the single, a lyric video was released.
In order to promote the song, a live performance followed in the run-up to the Bundesliga opening game of the 2015/16 season in the Allianz Arena on August 14, 2015. A few days later, a 25-second commercial celebrated its premiere, which included excerpts from this live performance were. The spot was expanded to include a scene with the then FC Bayern Munich player Mario Götze , who sits alone in the locker room and watches Tawil's appearance in the Allianz Arena on his smartphone .

Our songs reached position 33 in the single charts in Germany and stayed in the charts for a total of six weeks. For Tawil as an interpreter this is already the twelfth and as a songwriter the 27th chart success in Germany.
