The constituency 78 Osnabrück-West is a constituency for the election of the Lower Saxony state parliament . For the early state elections in Lower Saxony in 2017 , there were no individual applications in the constituency 078 Osnabrück-West, but 15 state lists, five of which were associated with direct candidates.

Boris Pistorius (Minister of the Interior in the Weil I cabinet since 2013 ) received the direct mandate with 42.6 percent of the first votes, and thus for the first time entry into the state parliament. Burkhard Jasper (CDU), who was unable to defend his direct mandate, received a mandate through the state list.

The turnout of 64.32% was slightly above the national average of 63.11%.

For the state elections in Lower Saxony in 2013 , there were no individual applicants and seven direct candidates from parties in the Osnabrück-West constituency, all of them except the MDU with an attached state election proposal.
