The constituency 78 Osnabrück-West is a constituency for the election of the Lower Saxony state parliament . From the city of Osnabrück, it includes the city center districts with the statistical districts numbers 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, Atter , Dodesheide , Eversburg , Hafen , Haste , Hellern , Pye , Sonnenhügel , Westerberg , Weststadt and desert .
State election 2017
For the early state elections in Lower Saxony in 2017 , there were no individual applications in the constituency 078 Osnabrück-West, but 15 state lists, five of which were associated with direct candidates.
Boris Pistorius (Minister of the Interior in the Weil I cabinet since 2013 ) received the direct mandate with 42.6 percent of the first votes, and thus for the first time entry into the state parliament. Burkhard Jasper (CDU), who was unable to defend his direct mandate, received a mandate through the state list.
The turnout of 64.32% was slightly above the national average of 63.11%.

State election 2013
For the state elections in Lower Saxony in 2013 , there were no individual applicants and seven direct candidates from parties in the Osnabrück-West constituency, all of them except the MDU with an attached state election proposal. With a second vote, another five country nominations are to be elected so that the ballot paper has twelve lines. Burkhard Jasper (CDU) won the direct mandate, and Volker Bajus (GREEN) also received a mandate via the state list. The turnout of 59.43% was just above the national average of 59.36%.

Before the election of the German Federal President in 2010 , Wulff renounced his state parliament mandate in June. For this purpose, Fritz Güntzler moved up to the state parliament via the CDU state list.
