Cervena Voda is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 506 inhabitants (December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Sabinov , a district of the Prešovský kraj , as well as to the traditional Šariš landscape .
geography
The village is located on the southern slope of the Čergov Mountains in the Torysa Valley . The center of the village is at an altitude of 515 m nm and is six kilometers from Sabinov .
Neighboring municipalities are Sabinov (cadastral municipality Zálesie) in the north, Drienica in the east, Sabinov (cadastral municipality Sabinov) in the south, Pečovská Nová Ves in the southwest and Jakovany in the west.
history
The present-day parish was created in 1956 when it was spun off from the town of Sabinov. Previously the area was called Majire or Sabinovské dvory and the inhabitants were employed as farmers, cattle keepers and forest workers. Some also worked in the industrial areas of Sabinov, Prešov and Košice .
The place name means “red water” in German.
population
According to the 2011 census, 484 inhabitants lived in Červená Voda, 456 of them Slovaks and one Russian . 27 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .
315 inhabitants supported the Greek Catholic Church, 138 inhabitants joined the Roman Catholic Church and one inhabitant joined the Evangelical Church AB. Two inhabitants were non-denominational and the denomination of 28 inhabitants was not determined.
