The District Alsunga (Alsungas novads) is located in western Latvia in the historic landscape Kurzeme .
geography
The rural area is half covered with forest. The Užava River runs here.
population
The district consists of the eight parishes (pagasts) Almāle, Balande, Dienvidstacija, Ziedlejas, Bērzkalni, Būcmaņi, Grāveri, Reģi and the administrative center Alsunga . 1620 inhabitants (2010) live in the Alsunga district. Many of them belong to the Suiti Catholic minority .
