Shafts Lohberg 1 and 2

The mine Lohberg Osterfeld was a coal - mine in urban Dinslaken , Oberhausen and Hünxe .

The Lohberg-Osterfeld composite mine operated by Deutsche Steinkohle AG (DSK) consisted of the Lohberg 1/2 and 4 pits and a 149 km² mine field . The extraction operations were fully mechanized, the conveyor belt was used to convey the line at a depth of 1270 m .

In the last few years of production, around 1.7 million t of fat and gas coal were mined by 2,900 employees, whereby the production capacity of the mine would have allowed twice the output.

history

In 1988 Ruhrkohle AG decided to merge the formerly independent mines Osterfeld and Lohberg for reasons of sales and the economy as a whole . This was completed in 1989. The mining shafts Lohberg 1/2 and Osterfeld 1/3 were received, as well as the cable car and weather shafts Lohberg 3, Lohberg 4 (Hünxe) , Sterkrade 1/2 , Hugo Haniel , as well as Osterfeld 4 and Osterfeld Nord.

The promotion was summarized on Lohberg 1/2, and gradually moved northward. The Osterfeld 1, 3, and 4, Sterkrade and Hugo Haniel shafts were backfilled and dropped by 1994 . The Osterfeld Nord shaft remained in operation until 2006 as a drainage and weather shaft for the mining area in the Schmachtendorf area . In addition, the small Lohberg 3 weather shaft, which was no longer required, was filled in in 2000 and the conveyor system located in the forest was demolished.

On December 31, 2005, the Lohberg-Osterfeld mine was shut down. Around 1,400 employees were transferred to other mines or took early retirement. After the end of the robbery work , miners drove into the mine for the last time on June 30, 2006 . The two shafts at the former production site in Dinslaken will be preserved so that they can be put into operation at a later point in time (approx. 10 years) as the central drainage system for the north of the Ruhr area.

The Hünxe shaft of the Lohberg / Osterfeld mine is also not backfilled; it is used as a weather shaft by the Prosper / Haniel mine in Bottrop. In 2008 the owner applied to be allowed to demolish the listed headframes above shafts 1 and 2. To prevent this, the Förderverein Fördertürme Bergwerk Lohberg e. V.

The site of the former Lohberg / Osterfeld mine is now used as the Kreativ-Quartier-Lohberg (KQL). There should be space for artists to have workshops. Some parts of the building are already rented. After the demolition of most of the above-ground buildings, Shaft 1, which is a listed building, was also demolished in March 2014, despite violent protests. The operators did not see themselves in a position to raise the maintenance costs to maintain. Ironically, a new, similar scaffold is to be erected later in order to be able to carry out inspections for the central water drainage. Shaft 2 should initially be retained as a landmark that can be seen from afar.

Furthermore, the so-called “Lohberg-Korso”, a lake with a park, a water-filled canal, shops and apartments is being built on the site. The urban area around the colliery, in particular the Dinslaken-Lohberg district, which is largely inhabited by miners, is in the process of being transformed into a garden city. Fresh colors and lots of green add value to this district. To connect to the BAB 3, a carriageway will run around a dump behind the mine site.
