Repelen settlement

The Repelen settlement is a miners' settlement in the Rheinkamp district of Moers .

After the Pattberg colliery with the shafts I / II had started mining in 1927 , the Bergmannssiedlung linker Niederrhein GmbH built a total of 387 residential units over the "Rhineland" field of the Rheinpreußen colliery between 1930 and 1936 .

The settlement was only indirectly available to the miners, as non-profit building companies were not allowed to build for a specific purpose.

Free-standing, two-story apartment buildings were built. In a rational style, modern residential architecture with a traditional design combined, particularly in the hipped and hipped roofs is expressed. The facades were structured by the lattice windows and decorative masonry connections , the latter mainly on the door and window walls and on the corners of the house. Special house types with Gothic stepped gables and arcades with pointed arches highlight the corner areas and street junctions. The corner buildings at Kamper Strasse / Freiligrathstrasse show a greater wealth of variation with echoes of Expressionist architecture with motifs from brick Gothic.

Kitchen gardens and playgrounds can be found in the large inner courtyards.
