Bunila ( Hungarian Bunyila or Bunyilafalva ) is a municipality in the Hunedoara County , in Transylvania , Romania .

Geographical location

Location of Bunila in Hunedoara County

The municipality of Bunila is located in the southeastern foothills of the Poiana-Ruscă Mountains , southwest of the Transylvanian Basin . In the historical region of the Vajdahunyad Chair District in Hunyad County ( Iron Market County ), the municipality is now in the west of Hunedoara County. Bunila is located about 30 kilometers west of the city of Hunedoara by the Nădrab stream and on the district road ( drum județean ) DJ 687E ; the district capital Deva ( Diemrich ) is located about 50 kilometers north of Bunila.

history

The Hörigendorf of the noble Munja family, Romanian in the Middle Ages , was first mentioned in a document in 1460. According to G. Téglás, archaeological finds were made on the area of ​​the incorporated village of Alun , which point to iron ore mining in Roman times .

Because of the poor infrastructure of the community, the population fell steadily since 1930-1977, after which it went down drastically until 2002. Due to the low population of the municipality, the mayor feared it would split in 2012.

Demographics

At the 1850 census there were 1106 people living in the area of ​​today's municipality, 1103 of whom were Romanians , two were Roma and one was a Hungarian . The highest number of inhabitants (1692) - simultaneously that of the Romanians (1663) and the Roma (16) - was reached in 1930. The highest number of Germans (38) was determined in 1900 and that of Magyars (49) in 1910. Furthermore, in 1966 one and two in 1992 as Ukrainians and one each in 1900 and 1966 as a Slovak . In 2002, 462 only Romanians were registered in the municipality of Bunila. In 2011 there were 306 people in 298 households.

Attractions

  • In Bunila the wooden houses of the Ioan Grunițan family and the Sofia Nandra family, both built in the 20th century, are listed as historical monuments.
  • The wooden church Adormirea Maicii Domnului , built in the 18th century in the incorporated village of Alun, is a listed building.
