Charron is a French municipality with 1989 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017), in the department of Charente-Maritime and in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine located. It belongs to the arrondissement of La Rochelle and the canton of Marans . The inhabitants are called Charronais .
geography
Charron is located about 16 kilometers north-northeast of La Rochelle in the Marais poitevin . Here the Sèvre Niortaise flows into the Bay of Aiguillon. Charron is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Puyravault in the north and north-west, Sainte-Radégonde-des-Noyers in the north, Marans in the east, Andilly in the south-east, Villedoux in the south and Esnandes in the south-west.
