The Lacoste was a concept vehicle that Citroën presented at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. It was an SUV based on the Citroën C1 . The Lacoste was created in cooperation between Citroën and the fashion company Lacoste . With the Lacoste, Citroën combined experience from the previous concept vehicles Citroën C-Buggy and Citroën C-Cactus in order to be able to produce a feasible successor model for the Citroën Méhari in the future .

An important development goal was an inexpensive production and therefore a restriction to the essentials. In addition to the non-existent doors, the Lacoste had an inflatable roof that was installed in the middle of the roof rail. The 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine from the Citroën C1, including the automated manual transmission , was placed on the front on a tubular frame. The bonnet has been aerodynamically optimized for low air resistance. As with the Méhari, the windshield could be folded down.

In the interior, the back seat could simply be folded flat into the trunk to store luggage or sports equipment. The roof rails offered the possibility of permanently mounting skis, a surfboard or a bicycle. There were also various stowage options, for example under the dashboard or in the two bench seats, which were equipped with sliding and lockable cover caps in the same color as the vehicle upholstery. The seats themselves were sewn in white cotton with a tight weave that resembled a polo shirt.

The 2-spoke steering wheel with integrated control levers and the "fascia strip" attached to the dashboard stood for new economy and restriction to the bare essentials; This showed information such as driving speed, direction indicators, indicator lights, etc. in the form of icons with oversized pixels. In addition, the steering wheel could be folded up against the dashboard with a lever to optimize passenger access. The front and rear lights were almost invisible, it was only when they were illuminated that the full scope could be seen. The experience of the Citroën Lacoste project resulted in the other Citroën Cactus and Citroën Cactus M concept vehicles .
