Compared to the C4 Cactus, the Cactus M Concept has both the length and the wheelbase shortened. The concept vehicle retained the design, which was limited to the lowest possible weight and production costs, and the futuristic interior. Compared to the basic model, the Cactus M has a higher body, a steeper windscreen with a roll bar on the frame of the windshield, and traction control called Grip Control with tall & narrow tires for more maneuverability and even the most demanding terrain or inclines as fast as possible to cope with. The convertible top was a special feature. An extension installed in the trunk lid could be converted into a self-supporting tent for two people using an inflation system.

In the end, however, Citroën decided not to go into series production, but instead developed the Citroën e-Méhari based on the Bolloré Bluesummer together with Bolloré and has been offering this in its model range since 2016.
