The Citroën Type A of the car manufacturer Citroën was built in Paris from 1919 to 1921 . During this time it reached a production number of 24,093 copies.
The Type A was Citroën's first automobile . During the First World War , Citroën had manufactured artillery shells. As early as 1917, André Citroën commissioned Jules Salomon to develop a light mid-range car .
Under the designation Type A 10 HP (or CV as the control name in France is) had the water-cooled four-cylinder engine 1327 cc capacity and a power of 18 PS . Its top speed was 65 km / h with a weight of little more than 800 kg.
In the year it was launched, the standard version of the Type A cost 7950 francs . Just one year later, the sales price was raised to 12,500 francs.
With the goal of building 100 vehicles a day, Citroën became the first European large-scale manufacturer in the early 1920s.
