The basis of the first generation vehicle is the Citroën C3 Picasso . Visually, the Aircross differs from the Picasso with chrome-plated side skirts, front spoiler and rear cover, chrome roof rails beginning at the bonnet, chrome-plated mirror caps and a spare wheel attached to the rear; technically through a raised body and a harder suspension set. The Aircross is built at the PSA Peugeot Citroën plant in Porto Real in Brazil for the South American market. A 1587 cm³ petrol engine with VTi and 16 valves is used as the drive. In the 83 kW and 90 kW variant with E85 bioethanol design. In addition to the standard 5-speed manual transmission , a 4- speed automatic transmission is also available as an option.
The interior of the Aircross is upholstered with fabric, but can also be equipped with cord or leather on request. ABS is partly standard, but was only available for a few models when it was launched on the Brazilian market.
At the end of 2015, a revised version of the C3 Aircross was introduced in South America. The most important changes concerned the redesigned front, and the spare wheel at the rear is only available as an extra. At the same time, production and sales of the normal Citroën C3 Picasso were stopped.

Another compact SUV was presented at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2018, the Citroën C4 Aircross . This is based on the C3 Aircross, but is around twelve centimeters longer.
Technical specifications
The C3 Aircross is offered with the 1.2-liter petrol engines and 1.6-liter diesel engines already known from the Peugeot 208 and the Opel Crossland X, which have a power range from 60 kW (82 PS) to 96 kW (131 PS) cover. Since summer 2018, all engine variants have been compliant with the Euro 6d-TEMP emissions standard. Since then, the diesel engines have only had a displacement of 1.5 liters.
