Facelift
After more than 900,000 models of the C4 had been sold worldwide since the start of sales in autumn 2004, Citroën presented a revised version at the International Motor Show Moscow on August 26, 2008 , which went on sale in November of the same year. In addition to minor external changes, the engines in particular were modernized.
The new front bumper, which has a larger air intake in the style of the other Citroën models, was visually striking. The double angle on the bonnet was also emphasized more and there was more chrome on the bumper strips and fog lights. As a result of the revision, the C4 grew by 15 millimeters and the coupé versions received clear glass taillights. In addition, three new exterior paintwork and light alloy wheels were available. New colors and materials were also used in the interior. The digital central instrument was supplemented by a tachometer. Another innovation was the “MyWay” navigation system with an integrated Bluetooth interface and AUX connection for portable music devices.
Renovated C4 received two new developed in cooperation with BMW petrol engines, even in mini or Peugeot 207 / 308 can be used. The VTi 120 with 88 kW replaced the 1.6 16V with 80 kW. A variable valve control should reduce fuel consumption to 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers. The power is transmitted to the drive wheels via a five-speed manual transmission or (only in the sedan) a four-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the 2.0 16V with 103 kW was replaced by the direct-injection and turbo-charged THP 150 with 110 kW and a manual six-speed gearbox. As the THP 140 with 103 kW, the sedan was also available with a four-speed automatic transmission.
The diesel engines were also revised: the HDI 140 FAP now had an output of 103 kW instead of 100 kW and achieved the Euro 5 standard . The fuel consumption of the smaller diesel engines has been reduced to 4.4 l / 100 km. This corresponds to CO 2 emissions of less than 120 g / km.

C-Triomphe (2006-2010)
At the 2006 Geneva Motor Show , a notchback version of the C4 was shown for the Chinese market, where it was sold as the C-Triomphe.
In contrast to German-speaking countries, notchback sedans are extremely popular in Asia. The C-Triomphe is significantly longer than the hatchback version (length 4802 mm, wheelbase 2710 mm) and was produced by Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile in China from mid-2006 to 2010. In 2007 the model was introduced in South America as the Citroën C4 Pallas . In 2009 the Citroën C-Elysée was presented as the more modern successor to the C-Triomphe and in 2010 production and sales of the C-Triomphe were discontinued.
C4 Pallas (2007-2013)
The C4 Pallas was a sister model of the C-Triomphe and was built in Argentina for the South American market from 2007 to 2013. At times it was also offered in Spain. The Citroën C4 Lounge / C4L became the successor model.
C-Quatre (2009-2016)
The Citroën C-Quatre is another notchback version of the C4 that was first shown at the 2009 Shanghai Motor Show. It has been offered exclusively in China since the end of 2009 and only with the older 1.6 and 2-liter petrol engines as the more modern successor to the Citroën C-Triomphe . Compared to the C-Triomphe, the C-Quatre is slightly smaller (length 4588 mm, wheelbase 2610 mm) but cheaper and more fashionable.
C4 HybridHDi
With a series-ready study , Citroën showed the C4-HybrideHDi engine, which achieves the values of a 3-liter car with an average consumption of 3.4 l / 100 km and CO 2 emissions of 90 grams per kilometer . It is a combination of a 1.6-liter diesel engine (HDi) with an automated 6-speed gearbox and an electric motor that also serves as a starter. The diesel engine has a particle filter . A market launch was decided, but the date of the launch was not. The same applied to the Peugeot 307 Hybrid HDi.
Commercial: The dancing robot
The C4 was advertised with several TV commercials featuring a gigantic dancing robot that the C4 transforms into. The advertisement comes from a Canadian advertising agency and was created on a high-rise roof in Vancouver . Another spot shows the C4 robot ice skating on a frozen lake.

Facelift
In January 2015 the C4 underwent a facelift.
The model maintenance measures on the compact car included new LED daytime running lights on the front and modified rear lights with a 3D effect. Two new gray tones complemented the paint palette, 17 "light alloy wheels in" Miami "design rounded off the look. A new central 7" touchscreen screen was optionally available in the cockpit, with the navigation system, media functions, telephone and vehicle parameter settings The French also offered new seat covers. Also new for the 2015 model year were new technical features such as a keyless system with which the car can be started without a key.
In addition, the engine range has been revised. The new than in June Engine of the Year excellent PureTech -Ottomotor with 81 kW (110 hp) and two new diesel engines with 73 kW (99 hp) and 88 kW (120 hp) supplemented the offer, which the versions HDi 90, HDi 115 and the e-HDi 115 were replaced.
Technical specifications
A total of six engines were offered, including three petrol and three diesel engines.
The 1.4-liter naturally aspirated engine has an output of 70 kW (95 hp) and a maximum torque of 136 Nm. It was only available with a 5-speed manual transmission and thus has a fuel consumption of 6.1 l Super / 100 km. Another naturally aspirated engine is the VTi 120 with 88 kW (120 PS). As standard, the power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox; a four-speed automatic gearbox, which increases fuel consumption by 0.7 l / 100 km, was included in the price list as an option.
The most powerful petrol engine develops 115 kW (156 hp) from 1.6 liters displacement with turbocharging. In addition, the engine works with direct fuel injection , which keeps fuel consumption low at 6.4 liters of super per 100 kilometers. The three diesel engines have common rail injection . The weakest has an output of 68 kW (92 PS) from 1.6 liters of displacement and consumes 4.2 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers. By the end of 2012, the HDi 110 had a software change of 82 kW (112 hp) and, unlike the HDi 90, is tied to a 6-speed manual transmission. The latter is also available as an e-HDi (with automatic start-stop) with a consumption of 4.2 l / 100 km.
At the beginning of 2013, the output of this engine was increased slightly to 84 kW (114 hp). This model was then marketed as the HDi 115. The 2.0 liter HDi 150 was the most powerful diesel engine on the list. It has an output of 110 kW (150 PS) and has a fuel consumption of just under 5 l / 100 km.

In 2012, production of the second generation Citroën C4 began as a notchback model C4L at the PSA plant in Kaluga in Russia . Since 2013 the model has also been produced as the Citroën C4 Lounge in El Palomar ( Province of Buenos Aires ) as the successor to the C4 Pallas . In the same year production began in Wuhan , China as the Citroën C4L.
The sedan is the first vehicle developed in the Citroën Design Center in Shanghai and was developed with a focus on two strategic markets, Eurasia and Latin America. In contrast to the previous Pallas, there is now a 6-speed automatic transmission (instead of the Pallas 4-speed transmission) with the aim of making better use of the torque and lowering fuel consumption. In addition, the 1.6-liter R4 gasoline engine with 16 valves and turbocharging (THP) of the Peugeot RCZ was introduced, which replaced the previous 2.0-liter R4 gasoline engine with 16 valves as the top engine.
The scope of the safety equipment with Isofix rear seats, traction control in addition to the brake assist system that was already available , vehicle dynamics control (ESP), ABS, driver / front passenger airbags were now also available as side and head airbags. A navigation system was now also standard equipment.
However, the reduced length difference between the lounge and the Pallas is reflected in the capacity of the trunk. While the Pallas was 4.77 m long and had a trunk volume of 580 liters, the C4 Lounge is only 4.62 m long and offers significantly less with 450 liters of trunk space. This shows that the lounge is positioned in the upscale segment, while the other customers of the former Pallas are to be served with the Citroën C-Elysée .
