The DS 4 is a passenger car of the compact class of the French brand Citroen or DS Automobiles . The car was presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 2010 (as the Citroën DS4). Sales began in Germany on May 28, 2011. Production ended in spring 2018. A derived from DS 4 model is the only in China available DS 4S .

design

The DS4 replaced the three-door coupé version of the Citroën C4 , while the five-door hatchback got a successor with the old name Citroën C4, but it also has five doors. The handles of the rear doors, similar to those of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta , are located in the area of ​​the windows and are therefore not immediately visible. Due to this design and the shape with the roof and side window lines sloping down significantly towards the rear, Citroën markets the car as a so-called “four-door coupé” .

The design of the car goes back to the study Citroën DS High Rider , which however had two side doors. The rear window was also larger in the series. As (optional) on the Citroën C3 , the windshield is pulled very far into the roof to enable a view at an angle upwards.

Equipment and models

2010-2015 models

As usual for the DS line, the equipment is well above the class standard. So there is already in the basic equipment "Chic" standard u. a. an air conditioner, a cruise control (cruise control), remote control central locking, electric windows, electrically adjustable and heated outside mirror, light alloy wheels, fog lights with static cornering, a CD RDS radio with steering wheel controls and a leather covered steering wheel. Optionally available are u. a. Seats with massage function, Bluetooth - handsfree , USB interface, two-zone automatic climate control , automatic driving light control, rain sensor , lane departure warning , xenon headlights , Denon - HiFi Plant or navigation system . An assistant to monitor the blind spot and leather seats are u. a. Standard from equipment level "SportChic".

The top model of the DS4 will be the “Pure Pearl” equipment line from the end of July 2012; It is based on the "SportChic" level, but offers the options of full leather appointments including leather-covered dashboard, navigation system, steering bi-xenon headlights, lane departure warning system, DENON hi-fi system, 19-inch alloy wheels and electrically adjustable and heated front seats as standard. The DS4 "Pure Pearl" is only available with the THP 200 and HDi 165 engines in conjunction with a 6-speed manual transmission.

A special model called “Urban Show” was offered from mid-August 2013. The vehicle is based on the mid-range “SoChic” equipment line and also has a black painted roof, exterior mirrors with chrome housings and two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels. The DS4 “Urban Show” is available with the VTi 120 petrol engine and the e-HDi 115 and HDi 165 diesel engines.

2015-2018 models

In November 2015 the DS 4 received a facelift and was supplemented by the model variant DS4 Crossback . This version is raised by 30 millimeters and stands out thanks to optical elements in the SUV style. The two more powerful petrol engines and the middle diesel engine are not available as a crossback.

Technical specifications

The DS4 is currently offered with five engines; the turbodiesel engines e-HDi 115 (84 kW / 114 PS) and HDi 165 (120 kW / 163 PS), the suction gasoline engine VTi 120 (88 kW / 120 PS) and the turbo gasoline engines THP 160 (120 kW / 163 PS) and THP 200 (147 kW / 200 PS). The e-HDi motors have a microhybrid system consisting of a stop-start system and brake energy recovery , the THP 160 is only available with a 6- speed automatic transmission.

At the beginning there were also the engines HDi 90 (68 kW / 92 PS), HDi / e-HDi 110 (82 kW / 112 PS) and THP 150 (115 kW / 156 PS).

Registration numbers

Since the market launch in 2011 up to and including December 2018, a total of 11,738 DS4s have been newly registered in the Federal Republic of Germany. 2012 was the most successful sales year with 2,758 units.
