German TV Award / Best Actress

This article lists the nominations and the winners of the German Television Award in the Best Actress category . The winners will be determined in a secret vote by an independent jury.

history

The current title of the Best Actress category has been used since 2007 (exception 2009). Since 2016, actresses who have starred in films and series can be nominated. Previously, only leading actress from films could be nominated. Additionally, prior to 2016, there were a variety of different categories for actresses. A distinction was made between main role and supporting role as well as between film and series. In addition, an extra category for actresses who participated in sitcoms was awarded once . Furthermore, men and women were awarded together twice for a category in the field of drama.

This article deals only with the categories in which the actresses starred in films. The article German TV Award / Best Actor Series , on the other hand, deals, among other things, with the categories in which the actresses participated as leading actress in series that were awarded from 1999 to 2006. In addition, the article German Television Award / Best Actress Supporting Role deals with the category in which the actresses appeared as supporting actress in films and series and were awarded from 1999 to 2009.

Up until 2009, one award winner was chosen from three nominations each year; since 2010 there have been five nominations. The first winner was the actress Suzanne von Borsody , who appeared in ARDs and WDRs Dark Days as well as ZDFs Die Mörderin . She was awarded the 1999 German Television Prize. The last winner so far was honored at the German Television Prize 2019 and was actress Vicky Krieps , who appeared in Sky's Das Boot .

So far, actresses who have participated in television films / multi-part series produced and broadcast by public television stations have mainly been honored . Exceptions were 2001 and 2017, in which the actresses were from a Sat.1 film, and in 2019, in which an actress from a Sky series was awarded for the first time in the category .
