The Divizia A 1939/40 was the eighth season in the history of the Romanian football league Divizia A. It began on August 27, 1939 and ended on June 9, 1940.

    After the season

    Relegated to Divizia B / dropout

    Juventus Bucharest and Victoria Cluj : sporting relegation.
    For CAM Timișoara and AMEF Arad , the newly appointed fascist regime under Ion Antonescu ordered forced relegation, as they were accused of being close to communism as associations of the workers' union.
    FC Carpați Baia Mare took part in the following season as Nagybányai Sport Egylet in the second Hungarian league ( Nemzeti Bajnokság II, Kolozsvári csoport ) after the region around Baia Mare was given to Hungary in the Second Vienna Arbitration .
