Drewitz is a village and part of Möckern in the Jerichower Land district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The village is located about eleven kilometers southwest of Ziesar and just under two kilometers north of the Altengrabow military training area .

Drewitz is located on the Magdeburgerforth-Möckern nature reserve; this covers a section of the southern ridge in western Fläming.

history

The community was first mentioned in a document in 1464. It was on the old Brandenburg – Magdeburg military road .

In 1843 313 residents lived here and were parishioners in the village of Gloine . In 1889 the village itself became a parish church and since Gloine had to be evacuated in favor of the Altengrabow military training area, it was necessary to build a separate church here.

In 1897 the village church Drewitz was built in the village.

In 1973 the village had 508 inhabitants.

Until December 31, 2009 Drewitz was an independent municipality and the last mayor was Cornelia Vietmeyer. On January 1, 2010 Drewitz was incorporated into the city of Möckern .
