Preis der Schönheit is a German television film by Ulrich Zrenner from 2018. It is the 74th episode of the crime series A strong team with Florian Martens and Stefanie Stappenbeck in the leading roles. It is the tenth time Linett Wachow has played alongside Otto Garber .

The 23-year-old Leonie Seiters collapses during a photo shoot and dies. The police are called and the inspectors Otto Garber and Linett Wachow start the investigation. The coroner determines poisoning and does not rule out substance abuse. Apparently she was given an overdose of Liquid Ecstasy via a drink . Suspect are the victim's competitors, her former boyfriend, but also the head of the modeling agency with whom the victim had problems. A very suspicious lead leads to the star photographer Jens Eberwein. Garber and Wachow find out that he invites young models to very private photo shoots. He "mediates" the girls to his male guests. He himself claims to be gay and not to have offended the girls himself. He was innocent of Leonie's death, she had finally worried him about the girls and persuaded him to come to the parties, from which he benefited greatly.
A dramatic incident occurs when Leonie's ex-boyfriend, Patrick Heise, wants to take the search for the perpetrator into his own hands because the police investigation is going too slowly for him. In his opinion, the agency boss is clearly to blame and so one evening he lies in wait for her and deliberately runs over her with a stolen car. Fortunately, she is not seriously injured in the process.
While the investigation focuses on the victim's current environment, Graber and Wachow neglect the death of a model a few weeks ago. Sandra Keppler, the mother of this girl, who worked on the examinations as a drug expert, received insights into the results of the examinations unnoticed. When the commissioners realize this, they can barely stop the woman from killing the photographer as well. She remorsefully states that Leonie and Eberwein have stolen everything from her that was worth living for. Through Leonie her 14-year-old daughter Alina got to one of Eberwein's parties and had sex with a complete stranger under the influence of drugs. That ultimately drove the shy Alina, who had no boyfriend, to suicide .

Sputnik , whose role as a businessman in the series is laid out as a running gag , is involved in this episode as a dog lover. He wants to use a lottery to help an old and sick police dog get an operation.

The young women feed on drugs and appetite suppressants, ambition and resentment tarnish the togetherness, jobs are only given against sex at coke parties. What could have been a serious contribution to the current debate about sexual assault ( #metoo ) has become a low-tension, loveless and listless colportage piece that is well below the quality average of the series. "
The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm only gave a medium rating (thumbs straight) and said: “Uninspired and not very illuminating, flat insights about the modeling industry are shared here. The crime thriller doesn't work, the few jokes don't ignite, and every aspect of this film has often enough been seen better elsewhere. ”Conclusion:“ Drug TV fare that is more like brown bread than cake. ”
