The ice hockey league was in the 2006/07 season as in the preseason play single track.

The originally planned reintroduction of the Regionalliga Süd did not take place, so that all teams at the qualifying round could in principle again apply for a license extension. Took from the teams entitled to do so

• Stuttgart Wizards , Revierlöwen Oberhausen and Rote Teufel Bad Nauheim due to the insolvency of the companies and
• SC Mittelrhein-Neuwied no longer takes part in the league due to the insolvency of the club.

In Freiburg , games in the Oberliga could continue despite the dissolution of the society for the Wolves Freiburg, who were relegated to the Oberliga, because the parent club EHC Freiburg was able to apply for a new license for the amateur team through the approval of the Baden-Württemberg Ice Sports Association .

After the Ratinger Ice Aliens team was excluded from play on November 16, 2006 , the mode for the teams not participating in the promotion play-offs was changed in December 2006.

mode

The mode was set before the season that first a preliminary round was played as a double round. After the preliminary round

• the participants in places 1 with 8 took part in the promotion playoffs to the 2nd Bundesliga;
• was originally planned that
  • the season ended for the participants in 9th and 10th place;
  • the participants in places 11 with 14 take part in the playdowns , in which a sporty relegation to the state associations should be determined;
• in December 2006 the mode was changed so that
  • the participants in 9th to 12th place in the playoff procedure played off a starting place in the German Ice Hockey Cup 2007/08 ;
  • the season was over for the participant in 13th place;
  • no further athletic relegation to the state associations was determined.

Rules changes from this season

• When games are extended - as in the DEL and the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey - only 4 instead of 5 field players may be used by both teams.
• In the last possible games within a playoff series, the penalty shoot-out does not apply and the game continues until the next hit has been decided.
• Holders of support licenses for DEL teams must have played at least 10 games for a team by January 31, 2007 in order to continue to be eligible to play for them.
• Players from 2nd Bundesliga teams can also have a promotion license for a top division team .
• An unlimited number of players with a foreign player license can be required until the end of the transfer on January 31, 2007 - a maximum of 5 players can be used per game.
• A restriction was introduced per game that a maximum of 15 players may be used who were either born as field players with a German player license before January 1, 1985 or are players with a foreign player license (so-called U21 rule).

Clubs of the ice hockey league for the 2006/07 season

This season, in addition to the losers from the measures 2. Bundesliga Tölzer Lions and EHC Freiburg as original club for Wolves Freiburg last year's play-off participants EC Hannover Indians , EV Ravensburg , SC Riessersee , Heilbronner Falken , Star Bulls Rosenheim , first EV Weiden , EC Peiting and the first five teams of the qualifying round Eisbären Juniors Berlin , TEV Miesbach , EV Füssen Leopards , EHC Klostersee and the Ratinger Ice Aliens take part in this league. This reduced the number of participants from 18 to 14. The Ratinger Ice Aliens were excluded from the game on November 16, 2006 after 17 games in fourth place (80:49 goals, 37 points).

Promotion regulation

The regulation as to which team from the regional associations should be promoted to the 2007/08 Oberliga is made independently by them: Aus

• Bavaria should - if the requirements according to a regionally divided Oberliga 2007/08 with up to 18 teams - up to two teams are met
• the Regionalliga Nord-Ost should have up to five teams
• the joint promotion round of the Regionalliga North Rhine-Westphalia, Regionalliga Hessen and the Baden-Württemberg-Liga should be approved for a maximum of two teams.

Preliminary round

• The teams of places 1–8 of the preliminary round take part in the promotion play-offs .
• The teams ranked 9–12 took part in the qualifying play-offs for the German Ice Hockey Cup 2007/08 .

The EV Ravensburg and the Heilbronner Falken have thus been promoted to the Asstel Ice Hockey League 2007/08 . Since the champions of the Asstel ice hockey league in 2006/07 were accepted into the DEL 2007/08 , the team from SC Riessersee was the first to succeed.
