The 1999/2000 Elitserien season was the 25th season of the Swedish Elitserien . The Swedish champions were for the 15th time in their club history of Djurgårdens IF , while Västerås IK and Linköpings HC were relegated to the second division.

Regular season

The twelve teams of the Elitserien initially played 50 games each. While the first eight teams qualified for the play-offs, the season was over for the teams in positions nine and ten and the last two had to compete in the Kvalserien to stay up against the best second division teams . Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
