Change of faction and party during election periods
- In December 1989 Dorothee Piermont (Greens) moved from the Greens to the Rainbow Group and later left the party.
- In December 1990 Franz Schönhuber (REP) left the DR parliamentary group; also in December 1990, Harald Neubauer and Johanna Grund were excluded from the REP, in May 1991 they left the DR parliamentary group, Neubauer founded the DLVH ; Emil Schlee left the DR parliamentary group and the REP in April 1991; Klaus-Peter Köhler and Hans-Günter Schodruch left the REP in February 1991, but remained in the DR parliamentary group.
- In November 1991, elected for the Greens left independents Karl Partsch the Green Group and the Liberal Group followed.
- In September 2000 Ilka Schröder left the party Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen, in September 2001 she switched from the Greens / EFA parliamentary group to the GUE / NGL parliamentary group.
- In October 2000 Wolfgang Kreissl-Dörfler and Ozan Ceyhun moved from Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen to the SPD and from the Greens / EFA parliamentary group to the Social Democratic parliamentary group.
- In December 2014, Stefan Bernhard Eck left the animal welfare party, but remained in the GUE / NGL parliamentary group.
- In July 2015, five members of the AfD joined the ALFA party, later LKR , but remained in the EKR faction. Four of them, Bernd Kölmel , Hans-Olaf Henkel , Ulrike Trebesius and Joachim Starbatty left the LKR in September 2018.
- Beatrix von Storch (AfD) switched from the EKR parliamentary group to the EFDD parliamentary group on April 8, 2016 in order to anticipate her exclusion from the EKR. After she left the European Parliament in October 2017, her successor Jörg Meuthen also joined the EFDD.
- Marcus Pretzell (AfD) was expelled from the EKR parliamentary group on April 12, 2016 and joined the ENF parliamentary group at the beginning of May 2016 . He left the AfD at the end of September 2017 and switched to the Blue Party .
- Arne Gericke switched from the family party to the Free Voters in May 2017 and to Alliance C in October 2018 , but remained in the EKR parliamentary group.
- Julia Reda resigned from the Pirate Party on March 27, 2019.
- Martin Buschmann resigned from the GUE / NGL parliamentary group and the animal welfare party on January 28, 2020.
