French Rugby Union Championship 1955/56

The 1955/56 season was the 57th edition of the French Rugby Union Championship. It comprised 48 teams in the top division (today's top 14 ).

The championship was divided into two phases. It began with the group stage, in which eight teams played against each other in six groups. The five best in each group and the two best sixth-placed made it into the knockout round. Sixteenth, eighth, quarter and semi-finals followed. In the final, which took place on June 3, 1956 at the Municipal Stadium in Toulouse , the two semi-final winners met and played for the Bouclier de Brennus . Here, the set FC Lourdes against the US Dax through and won for the fourth time the championship.
