The 79th Gent – Wevelgem 2017 was a Belgian road bike race in Flanders . The one-day race started in Deinze and ended in Wevelgem after 249.2 kilometers and was held on Sunday , March 26th, 2017 . The bike race was part of the UCI WorldTour 2017 and was the twelfth of a total of 37 races in this series. The winner was Greg Van Avermaet , who was able to prevail in the final sprint ahead of his runaway Jens Keukeleire . They were the last of a breakaway group that had formed about 35 kilometers from the finish.
The 6th Gent – Wevelgem 2017 for women started in Ypres and, like the men's race in Wevelgem, ended after 145 kilometers. It was part of the UCI Women's WorldTour 2017 . The winner in the sprint was Lotta Lepistö .
