Guldbagge : Best Foreign Film

Winner of the Swedish Guldbagge Film Award in the Best Foreign Film category ( Bästa utländska film ). The Swedish Film Institute has been presenting its awards every year since 1964 for the best film productions and filmmakers of the previous year at the end of January and the beginning of February at a gala that alternates between Stockholm and Gothenburg . The film award for the best foreign film was first awarded in 1990.

The works of British and American filmmakers received the most awards (three wins each). The Taiwanese Ang Lee ( The Ice Storm , 1998; Danger and Desire , 2009) is the only director to date to record two victories.

As the first German-speaking director, Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck prevailed in 2007 with his later Oscar- winning film The Lives of Others . He was followed by Austrian Michael Haneke ( The White Ribbon - A German Children's Story ) and Jessica Hausner ( Lourdes ) victories in 2010 and 2011 .
