Halstenbach is a formerly independent district of Gummersbach in the Oberbergisches Kreis in southern North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

Halstenbach is located in the south of Gummersbach in the valley of the Halstenbach, which flows into the Agger . Neighboring towns are Dieringhausen , Kurtensiefen and Breidenbruch .

history

In 1575 the place was first recorded with the place name "Halstenbich" on a map by A. Mercator. In the map of the Topographical Survey of the Rhineland from 1818, the place is named Halsebach and a mill symbol is noted. The name Halstenbach is used consistently in all historical maps from 1845 onwards as well as in the current topographical maps.

The Halstenbacher Mühle was a flour mill. In 1576 it is mentioned in the Homburg mill directory and was the forced mill for the western town of Hunstig .

About 400 meters east of Halstenbach, another mill called "Lohmühle" is noted on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1818 upstream of the Halstenbach .
