Hermsdorf is a district of the city of Gera in Thuringia .

geography

Hermsdorf is located in the northeast of the city of Gera and borders directly on the town of Heuckewalde, which is already part of Saxony-Anhalt . The place is located in a gentle valley depression in the plateau, surrounded by flat hills; the Kleine Schnauder has its headwaters here.

history

The oldest known documentary mention as Herbrandesdorf comes from 1364; in later securitisations the spellings Hermersdorf (1533) or Hernsdorf (1564) appear. According to the name and the shape as a street village , the place is a German foundation; It was named after a locator named Herbrand .

Over the centuries until today, the place has a firm connection to the former Electoral Saxon , from 1815 Prussian and now Saxony-Anhalt neighboring town of Heuckewalde. This is where the Protestant parish, the cemetery and the kindergarten are located. From 1750 to 1970 Heuckewalde was also the responsible school location. The place was part of the v. tümplingschen and on the other hand the v. Herzberg's patrimonial jurisdiction (see "Rittergüter"). In addition, there were still some official fiefs or Zeitzer church fiefs. Hermsdorf trained, buried and parish in Heuckewalde, with one third of the costs for the upkeep of the church and half of the costs for the school. In 1827 Hermsdorf had 22 houses and 126 inhabitants.

Until 1990, the place was largely agricultural with a few smaller craft businesses. In 1993, the designation of the “Am Vogelherd” industrial park began, on which a number of companies have now settled. By designating the residential area “Am Hermsdorfer Anger” primarily for single-family houses, the number of residents has now multiplied.

Manors

In Hermsdorf there were two manors that had patrimonial jurisdiction in the form of inheritance jurisdiction. One estate was linked to the Kleinaga manor since the middle of the 17th century . In 1696 the Kleinaga Kammergut and the Hermsdorf estate were separated and sold to the von Tümpling family . The lower jurisdiction was abolished on January 1, 1855 and passed to the state.

The second patrimonial court in Hermsdorf was responsible for 12 tenants and was connected to the neighboring Electoral Saxon (from 1815 Prussian) manor Heuckewalde . Since 1777 this belonged to the barons of Herzberg . This patrimonial court was also repealed on January 1, 1855.
