The Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection , abbreviated HMUKLV , is the Ministry of the Environment and at the same time the Ministry of Agriculture of the state of Hesse . At the head of the house, as a member of the Hessian state government, is State Minister Priska Hinz ; she is represented by Oliver Conz as State Secretary .
history
While the Ministry's main task after the Second World War was to provide the population with food and was therefore named as the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, environmental protection was increasingly added in the 1970s . In 1984, as part of the first red-green coalition, the environment and energy sector was outsourced to a newly created environment ministry under Joschka Fischer . In 1999 the two ministries were merged again. The ministry now covers the tasks of environmental protection, consumer protection and agriculture. In 2009 the energy sector, which was previously subordinate to the Ministry of Economic Affairs , was added to the Ministry of the Environment.

The main tasks of the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection are:
- Environmental protection: Carrying out nuclear supervision , measures to improve environmental protection, waste management and noise protection
- Agriculture: Promotion of agriculture and measures for the conservation and development of rural areas
- Consumer protection: Measures to protect people from health risks and against consumer misleading and deception, food safety
organization
The Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection is a supreme administrative authority with around 470 employees. The regional councils in Darmstadt , Gießen and Kassel as well as the districts as the lower nature conservation authority take on tasks of environmental protection, consumer protection as well as tasks in the areas of forest, nature protection and agriculture.
Around 4200 people are employed in the authorities of the environmental department .
Ministry
In addition to the ministerial office, the ministry consists of seven departments:
- Department I: The central department is responsible for organizational questions, personnel decisions and legal questions
- Department II: Waste Management, Immission and Radiation Protection
- Division III: Water and Soil
- Department IV: Climate protection, sustainable urban development, biological diversity
- Department V: consumer protection , food control , animal welfare , veterinary affairs
- Department VI: Forests and Sustainable Forestry
- Department VII: Agriculture
