Hottviller ( German Hottweiler ) is a French commune with 522 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Sarreguemines and the canton of Bitche and is part of the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park .
geography
Hottweiler is about ten kilometers as the crow flies from the German-French border and five kilometers northwest of Bitche .
history
The community was first mentioned in 1577 as Hodtweiller . From 1790 to 2014 the village belonged to the canton of Volmunster , which no longer exists , and since then to the canton of Bitche.
