The Koknese district (Kokneses novads) is located in the center of Latvia in the historic Vidzeme countryside , east of Riga .

geography

The area lies north of the Daugava . The landscape rises after the bank and is hilly and wooded in the northern district areas.

population

The district consists of the three municipalities (pagasts) Bebri, Irš and the administrative center Koknese . 6036 inhabitants (2010) live in the Koknese district.
