Fischach is a market in the Swabian district of Augsburg .
geography
location
Fischach lies in the tertiary hill country of the Western Forests nature park south of Augsburg . The place was created at the point where the Neufnachtal meets the Schmuttertal .

history
Until the 14th century, Fischach was the seat of an old local noble family, the Lords of Fischach. These were ministerials to the Augsburg bishops, the Lords of Schwabegg . In the course of secularization , the place came to the Electorate of Bavaria in 1803 . From 1862 to 1929 Fischach belonged to the district office of Zusmarshausen and from 1929 to the district office of Augsburg , which from 1939 was called the district of Augsburg . The market survey took place in 1952.
Incorporations
On July 1, 1972, Aretsried , Willmatshofen and Wollmetshofen were incorporated. On July 1, 1975, parts of the dissolved Kreuzanger community were added. Siegertshofen followed on January 1, 1976. Finally, on May 1, 1978, part of the dissolved municipality of riding book was incorporated.
Population development
Between 1988 and 2018 the community grew from 3,977 to 4,822 by 845 inhabitants or 21.3%.

Culture and sights
There is a Jewish cemetery in Fischach , which was founded in 1774 by the then Jewish community. Today it is maintained and maintained by the municipal administration and can be visited after consultation. There is also a former synagogue and a former Jewish community center with a school. In 1999, one was in Fischach Jews monument built that up to four hundred year history of Christian-Jewish coexistence in the municipality persecution of Jews in the Nazi era will remember. In Wollmetshofen there are two Mariengrotten , some of which are located on the Bavarian Jakobusweg .

The most important company in the community is the Alois Müller GmbH & Co. KG (Müllermilch) dairy in Aretsried . The Raiffeisenbank Stauden is based in Fischach .
traffic
The Fischach (Schwab) train station ( DS100 : MFIS) is on the Perennial Railway from Gessertshausen to Markt Wald . The route is currently only used by individual special trains. Various AVV bus routes run several times a day in Fischach .
