The 800-meter run for women at the 1990 European Athletics Championships was held from August 27 to 29, 1990 in the Poljud stadium in Split .
In this competition there was a double victory for the runners of the GDR. Sigrun Wodars became the European champion in 1986 , second in the European Championship , 1987 world champion and 1986 Olympic champion . The World Cup second in 1987 and second in the Olympic Games in 1988 Christine Wachtel won the silver medal. Bronze went to Lilija Nurutdinova from the Soviet Union.
