The Okres Levice (German district Lewenz ) is an administrative area in the south of Slovakia with 119,018 inhabitants (2004, 2001 there were 120,021, of which 82,993 (69.1%) Slovak, 33,524 (27.9%) Hungarian) and an area of ​​1,551 km².

Historically, the district is in the west in the former Bars county , in the east in the former Hont county and a small part in the south around the village of Farná belonged to the former Gran county (see also the list of historical counties of Hungary ).
