The 2013/14 Metal Ligaen season was the 57th season since the founding of the Metal Ligaen , the top division in Danish ice hockey . SønderjyskE Ishockey was Danish champion for the eighth time and thus defended his title from the previous season .

In the main round , the nine teams play 40 games each. Each team receives three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime , one point for a loss after overtime and zero points for a defeat after regular time. The top eight teams qualify for the play-off quarter-finals. In the first two playoff rounds, the teams may choose their playoff opponent in the order of their final placements, whereby the first placed may choose his opponent first. All play-off games from the quarter-finals to the final are played in the best-of-seven mode.
