Metschach is a place in Carinthia . The border between the cadastral communities of Maria Feicht and Hardegg runs through the village , which is also the border between the political communities of Glanegg and Liebenfels and between the districts of Feldkirchen and Sankt Veit an der Glan . As a result, the place is divided into two localities : the village of Metschach in the municipality of Glanegg has 9 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020), the village of Metschach in the municipality of Liebenfels has 8 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). Thus the place has a total of 17 inhabitants.

location

The place is in Central Carinthia, south of the Glan between Maria Feicht and Zweikirchen , north of the wetland in which the Rohnsdorfer Bach rises, on the southern slopes of the hill running from Maria Feicht to Hardegg . A cadastral municipality border runs through the place: the western part of the place lies in the area of ​​the cadastral municipality Maria Feicht, the eastern part of the place in the area of ​​the cadastral municipality Hardegg.

The place was mentioned in 1253 as Moezik , which is derived from the Slovenian personal name Moka .

In the first half of the 19th century, the houses in the village that were in the tax community of Maria Feicht belonged to the Glanegg tax district . When the local parishes were formed in the course of the reforms after the revolution of 1848/49, these houses came to the Maria Feicht parish , which was attached to the Glanegg parish in 1956.
